Homecoming proposes the regeneration of Pollokshields through an approach that unites heritage, community, and environmental care. Drawing from the area’s historic character and diverse architecture, the project addresses social inequalities while reimagining how people live, share, and connect. It introduces affordable housing, a pedestrianised high street, rain gardens, community spaces, and flexible work environments to promote inclusion and economic opportunity.
Climate and biodiversity challenges are treated as opportunities for better design, healthier ecosystems, and collective wellbeing. By integrating public spaces with ecological systems and social initiatives, Homecoming seeks to foster a renewed sense of belonging and empower residents. The result is a sustainable, resilient model for neighbourhood development in Glasgow, offering long-term benefits for both people and the planet.
‘The design of the human habitat can empower users with different conditions, and a well guided and evaluated exercise of urban governance, can contribute to the full satisfaction of people's rights’
